The review is devoted to the problem of surgical-site infections. The article presents an analysis of various Russian and foreign sources on the issue of surgical-site infections. The review’s key aspects are the topicality of the issue for Russia, the USA and European countries, the economic losses from surgical-site infection complications, and the ways of preventing the surgical-site infections.
