The article presents the results of surgical treatment of 16 patients (18 eyes with pseudophakia) with the stated diagnosis of open-angle glaucoma. One of the directions aimed to increase the antihypertensive effect of surgical interventions is the use of drainages and drainage devices. Using shunt drainages in refractory glaucoma is currently widespread. The detailed description is given of the operation with Ex-Press shunt and biodegradable drainage «Glautex», a scleroplastic material made from the pericardium of cattle. The postoperative period was characterized by a favorable course. The obtained postoperative data indicate that the proposed method of surgical treatment allows to avoid postoperative complications such as conjunctiva erosion with exposure of the metal shunt, formation of excessive scarring in the bleb area, and to achieve the desirable antihypertensive effect.
Key words: refractory glaucoma, Ex-Press shunt, biodegradable drainage «Glautex», scleroplastic material.
