The article presents a review of literature, devoted to the problem of postoperative inflammatory infectious complications in ophthalmic surgery. The endophthalmitis is one of the most dangerous complications. We examined etiology, risk factors, incidence, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, current methods of prevention and treatment of this intraocular infection.
