The article presents a review of the literature on the syndrome of posterior reversible leukoencephalopathy. The syndrome of posterior reversible leukoencephalopathy is characterized by a spectrum of neurological and radiological features. The factors are reflected which contribute to the syndrome development, clinical manifestations, radiological signs, mechanisms of development, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, course and outcome in this pathology. A clinical case of the development of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome in a patient with newly diagnosed HIV infection is presented.
Key words: posterior reversible leukoencephalopathy syndrome, HIV, PRES-syndrome.
