There were examined 500 workers of locomotive crews of Joint Stock Company «Russian Railways» through a series of psycho-diagnostic techniques and analysis of some sociodemographic indicators. There were revealed the psychological characteristics of the personality of a worker of locomotive crew and their relationship with the factor of the accident, in particular, the dependence of accidence on the degree of accentuated personality, smoking, alcohol, age, degree of confidence in the technology, risk appetite, level of subjective control. It is proved that the accident rate increases with age, alcohol intake, risk appetite and high confidence in the technology. The decrease in the accident rate is affected by the presence of some accented character traits (hyperthymic, excitable, emotive, pedantic, anxious, cyclothymic, demonstrative, dysthymatic, sticking, exalted) and smoking. The structure of the personality of a worker of a locomotive crew with the backbone factor is described.
Key words: worker of a locomotive crew, accidence, accentuation of personality traits.
