Osteoporosis in childhood is an actual and poorly understood problem. At the same time, the prevalence of bone mineral density, which is lower in relation to age, among children is 16-38 %. The article presents data on epidemiology, causes, modifiable and unmodified risk factors, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of osteoporosis in childhood and adolescence. The data of the study of the mineral density in 1510 children of school age are presented, the results of the determination of the level 25 (OH) D in children of different age groups in the autumn-winter period are given. The data of statistical analysis of the frequency and structure of skeletal bone fractures in children and adolescents are shown.
Key words: children, osteoporosis, risk factors, mineral density, fractures, treatment, vitamin D.
