Food allergies are still a topical childhood issue. Interest in this problem is increasing every year, not only because of its growing prevalence, but also frequent difficulties in diagnostics and treatment. In early childhood, gastro-intestinal forms of food allergy are much more common, which often occur under the «masks» of other diseases, which in turn makes the diagnostic search for causes more difficult. The article considers the issues of causes and mechanisms of food allergy development, its main forms are described. The modern approaches to diagnosis are discussed using the optimal clinical-anamnestic and laboratory methods available to a doctor.
Key words: food allergy, children, gastrointestinal manifestations, diagnosis.
