The main group included 113 patients: 83 with myocardial infarction (MI), the rest 30 with unstable angina (UA). The comparison group comprised 11 patients with chronic stable angina (CSA). They all had blood tests for neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin level in urine (u-NGAL); creatinine (sCr), potassium (К⁺) and N-terminal fragment of natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). Patients with acute forms of ischemic heart disease (IHD) showed higher values of u-NGAL compared to CSA patients. U-NGAL content was higher in acute kidney injury (AKI) patients, in comparison with non-AKI patients. U-NGAL increase is diagnosed in patients having acute forms of IHD, more severe stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and chronic heart failure (CHF).
