The article assesses the information content of radiological and functional examination indicators in the diagnosing and determining the severity of community-acquired pneumonia. The results of the chest organs examining with a multislice computed tomograph are described. The analysis of examining 343 working age patients with community-acquired pneumonia is given. The CT results confirmed the X-ray findings in 84.3% of cases. The survey confirmed the high diagnostic informative value of the radiological sign of pneumonia ― infiltration. Sensitivity and diagnostic value was rather low for such negative signs as consolidation, knots, dissemination, bullas, enhanced peribronchial pattern, «opaque glass» symptom, i.e. their revelation or absence were not significant for pneumonia verification. Echocardiographic examination of 34 patients showed that with the CAP aggravation the number of persons with diastolic and/or systolic cardiac dysfunction increases from 0 to 66.7%. Visualization of pulmonary fibrosis and pleural and pericardial effusions is not enough to diagnose pneumonia but allow to suspect systolic dysfunction of the left ventricle.

Key words: community-acquired pneumonia, multislice computed tomography, echocardiography.
