Over recent years many Russian tourists visit countries with tropical and subtropical climates, so the importation frequency of diseases endemic for these regions has increased. Typhoid and paratyphoid fever continue to be a common infectious disease in the South-East Asia, Africa and Pacific region, due to poor sanitation in these regions. Currently, the main share of paratyphoid infections in Russia falls on imported cases. The article presents a clinical case of paratyphoid A of a patient who returned from India. Thus, it is important to pay special attention to those patients who have fever combined with intoxication and diarrheal syndrome and who returned from Asia and Africa.
Key words: paratyphoid A, Salmonella paratyphi A, imported infection.
