The article explores two important issues: the impact of chronic alcohol consumption on the human body, particularly the kidneys, and the danger of consuming energy drinks, especially when combined with alcohol. The relationship between alcohol abuse and kidney damage is not fully understood, and existing data is contradictory. Based on the Russian and foreign research, pathogenic mechanisms of the negative effect of alcohol on the body are presented, as well as dangerous doses increasing the risk of development and progress of chronic kidney disease. The review analyzes the literature data on the combined consumption of alcohol and energy drinks, as well as their role in the development of acute and chronic kidney damage.
Key words: energy drinks, kidney damage, alcohol, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury.
