The article presents the results of surgical treatment of patients with carinate chest distortion. In total, between 2008 and 2015 were operated 34 patients (29 boys and 5 girls) between the ages of 8 to 17 years. All patients were performed spirometry, electrocardiography, multilayer multislice computed tomography (MSCT), and echocardioscopy (EchoCS) in the preoperative period. Among laboratory studies there were: general blood analysis, immunoassay, as well as consultation of a genetic scientist concerning genetic diseases. The plate was installed in 34 patients. In all cases, we have traced a good cosmetic result. In five cases an additional fine tissue sculpting was made in order to achieve a good cosmetic effect. In three cases was made unilateral resection of the ribs due to the asymmetric type strain. It was demonstrated that fixation after costectomy and sternotomy is required for creation of optimal conditions for consolidation of bone fragments. The volume of costectomy should be individualized depending on the type and volume of deformation.
Key words: carinate chest distortion, thoracoplastics, metal plate.
