We observed 322 children aged 1 to 4 years with perinatal lesion of nervous system, who applied with speech disorders. In 244 (75.7%) of them feeding problems were identified in anamnesis that can be divided into 3 groups by the genesis of occurrence: 1) due to the presence of neurological problems; 2) as a result of defects of sensory integration; 3) psychosocially conditioned problems of feeding. Well-timed detection of existing difficulties with feeding of a young child and the removal of reasons of these defects, can not only prevent the occurrence of emotional problems in children and family as a whole, but also contributes to the prevention of speech defects development in the future.
Key words: speech, perinatal pathology of CNS, feeding problems, feeding behavior, sensory integration.
