The authors propose their own algorithm for diagnosis and treatment of dacryocystitis in children, which is conditioned and combined with rhinopathology (nasal septal deviation, chronic rhinosinusitis). In the diagnosis and treatment of the disease, the team approach of ophthalmologists and otorhinolaryngologists was used. The treatment tactics was based on the results of diagnostic endoscopy of the nasal cavity, color nasolacrimal canal probing, contrast radiography and computer tomography of the paranasal sinuses. In cases of acute or chronic dacryocystitis, we used endonasal retrograde probing of the nasolacrimal canal in children from 2-7 months of age. If it failed, we used dacryocystorhinostomy from 2 years of age. The operation was performed using endoscopic technique and motor systems. In case of concomitant rhinopathology, we performed septoplasty, turbinoplasty or functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
Key words: dacryocystitis, endonasal retrograde probing of the nasolacrimal canal, dacryocystorhinostomy
