The paper is devoted to the analysis of changes in the vitreo-retinal interface leading to various pathology processes such as epiretinal fibrosis. The epiopathogenetic aspects of forming the idiopathic epiretinal fibrosis are considered, the possible mechanisms of formation and the most significant cell elements involved in the development and progression of the proliferation process.
Key words: vitreoretinal interface, posterior vitreous detachment, epiretinal membrane, extracellular matrix, vitreous cortex, cortical layers
