The article presents the analysis of morbidity and disability due to refractive disorders. In the structure of ophthalmic morbidity, refractive disorders constitute nearly one third. There has been a slight decline in the incidence of refractive disorders, associated with insufficient number of ophthalmologists at the stage of primary care — staffing was only 56%. In the structure of ocular disability in both adults and children myopia constitutes less than 20%. While the number of excimer laser surgeries and laser coagulations used for retinal complications of myopia increases, we revealed unjustified reduction in the number of scleroplasties. The statistical analysis of the prevalence of refractive blindness led to the identification of organizational measures to improve assistance to the most numerous group of ophthalmologic patients, i.e. patients with refractive disorders.
