One of the recent advances in treatment of patients with varicose vein disease is the use of high-energy lasers. Endovenous laser obliteration is a method of thermal intravascular laser irradiation on varicose subcutaneous veins, causing them to undergo fibrous transformation and switch off of the pathological blood flow. The intervention is conducted under ultrasound control, without wellhead high ligation of large or small subcutaneous vein, without subcutaneous surgery, under local anesthesia in the outpatient setting. Today, this method of treatment can be used in most patients with varicose veins disease; its efficiency is 99%.
Key words: varicose veins disease, diode laser 1470 nm, endovenous laser obliteration.
