Emergency dental care as an indicator of preventive programs planning

The author has examined the need in the urgent dental care of the Tatarstan Republic population. 2411 people of key age groups (6-7, 12, 15, 35-44 and 60+ y.o.) were examined. The prevalence of complicated dental caries was found in 58.7% of children aged 6-7 years, 41.6% — of 12 y.o., 26% of adolescent at the age of 15-16, and in adults of 35-44 y.o. and 60+ y.o. — 73.5% and 69%, respectively. The need for urgent treatment with the threat of complications was registered in the group of 6-7 y.o. — in 3.2% of cases, 12 y.o. — 2.8%, 15-16 y.o. — 0.9%, 35-44 and 60+ y.o. in 0.6% of cases. The data obtained from this oral health survey will provide the basis for the development and implementation of dental health preventive programs, especially among children.
