The publication contains the results of experimental transplantation of the structured elastin biomaterial (patent No.2440148) into the Wistar rat eyeball osseous defect of 7 mm in diameter (experimental series). In the control series (n=23) the similar osseous defect remained intact. The histological studies of the graft and tissue bed were carried out on the 30, 90 and 360 days following the experiment. The studies allowed to reveal the following types of osteogenesis against the background of the biomaterial transplantation: oppositional growth of the osseous wall in the perifocal zone, marginal regeneration in the contact zone of the transplant with the osseous bed, endesmal ossification in the boundary loose connective tissue. Besides, there were for the first time revealed the intraelastin loci of osteogenesis directly in the elastin transplant. The obtained results make it possible to recommend elastin biomaterials for osteoplastic operations in cranio-facial surgery.
Key words: elastin biomaterials, reparative osteogenesis, reconstructive surgery of the orbit.
