The article presents the results of YAG laser vitreolysis in treatment of various types of vitreous. There were two groups: the main (with laser treatment) and the control (the natural course). Patients of the main group were divided into subgroups: 1) Weiss rings and/or its fragments, 2) loose fibrous cloud-like opacities, 3) large dense conglomerates. After treatment in the main group, there was a significant improvement in the parameters at follow-up period of 1 week, 1, 3, 6 months (p <0.05), compared to the control (p>0.05). Comparative analysis of the results of treatment among subgroups in the 1st subgroup showed a statistically significant increase in contrast sensitivity (from 2.85±1.17 to 2.06±0.78% W) to the observation period of 1 week (p<0.05) and remained stable up to 6 months. There was a positive tendency of contrast sensitivity in subgroups 2 and 3 (p>0.05). The level of subjective perceptions in all subgroups was significantly lower at follow-up of one week after surgery ― from 20.45±10,33; 18,86±7,26 and 22,10±7,70 to 11.58±8 and 18; of 14.86±5.45 and of 19.53±8,14 respectively (p<0.05), with no statistically significant changes during the whole observation period.
Key words: YAG laser vitreolysis, vitreous haze, contrast sensitivity, questionnaire.
