To reveal the differential-diagnostic value of computer-aided tomography with contrast amplification for verification of pulmonary embolism and its complication – infarction pneumonia – in a patient with severe comorbid cardiovascular pathology.
Material and methods. The article presents a clinical case of a 74 y.o. in-hospital patient. The following laboratory methods were used: clinical blood test, D-dimer, troponins, ECG, EchoCG, R-control of thoracic organs, Doppler sonography of vessels of lower extremities, multislice helical computer tomography of thoracic organs with contrast amplification.
Results. Multislice helical computer tomography with contrast amplification showed pulmonary tromboembolism and its complication – infarction pneumonia. The results could not be verified by other methods due to the comorbid cardiovascular pathology.
The conclusion. In case of suspected pulmonary thromboembolism in a patient with cardiovascular pathology, the most optimal and informative diagnostic methods should be used. One of such methods is computer tomography of thoracic organs with contrast amplification. Early diagnostics of both the main disease and its bacterial complications provide more efficient treatment and improves prognosis.
Key words: thromboembolism of pulmonary artery, vein thromboembolism, computer tomography of thoracic organs with contrast amplification, infarction pneumonia, antibacterial therapy.
