The article presents criteria of clinically significant opacity of IOL material, based on the clinical analysis of 62 cases of intraocular lens (IOL) transparency violation such as deposits on IOL surface of different location and density, intraoptic lens opacification in the central part, total opacification of IOL optic, glistening, YAG-laser superficial and intraoptic lesions as well as precipitates on IOL. IOL replacement was indicated when IOL material changes were regarded clinically significant, taking into account the intra — and postoperative complications risk factors and the prospect of visual function improvement.
Key words: intraocular lens, opacification of intraocular lens, intraocular lens removal, intraocular lens exchange.
