International mass events are accompanied with a risk of emergence and spread of infectious diseases among the guests and participants. Preparation for the 27th World Summer University Games 2013 in Kazan demanded to mobilize all forces of Rospotrebnadzor bodies and institutions to assess the risk of epidemiological complications during preparation and holding of Student Games. The main directions of epidemiological security of the 27th World Summer University Games were identified; additional counter-epidemiological measures were developed and introduced. The specialists controlled more than 400 epidemiologically significant venues, conducted additional laboratory studies on environmental factors. The menu for athletes, volunteers and other organized groups was designed and corrected. Members of “risk» groups (more than 10 thousand people) were vaccinated against hepatitis A and dysentery. More than 3 thousand people were surveyed for carrying pathogens of acute intestinal infections. Additional hygienic training was held for the personnel of Universiade venues (4540 people). Targeted measures were taken to address the rise of natural focal infections. The implementation of anti-epidemic measures helped to ensure the sanitary-epidemiological well-being of the Student Games.
Key words: anti-epidemic security, the 27th World Summer University Games, prevention of infectious diseases, sanitary-and-epidemiologic well-being.
