By the histological methods were examined enucleated eyes of 12 patients with subatrophy against the background of chronic uveitis of various origins.

The purpose of the study is to determine the state of the paravasal connective tissue structures of the eyeball with uveitis. In 11 cases, a different degree of disorganization of the extracellular matrix of fibrous connective tissue in the choroid, which is one of the structural components of the hemato-ophthalmic barrier, the state of which plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases, was revealed.

Key words: uveitis, hematoophthalmic barrier, polarized microscopy.
