The article presents the data of the complex diagnosis of a patient, 60 y.o., directed to a survey suspected of glaucoma to the ophthalmologic dispensary in the city of Stavropol. During the initial examination, the patient did not have any other reliable indicators consistent with glaucoma, except for changes in the components of visually evoked potentials to color stimuli and an increase in the level of antibodies to myelin basic protein (MPB). The patient was recommended a follow-up in dynamics and a repeated examination after 1-3 months. Unfortunately, the patient was not observed with the ophthalmologist throughout the year. A year later, the examination revealed in the patient clear signs of progression of the glaucoma process. Using the example of the described clinical case, we proved that in the early diagnosis of glaucoma it is necessary to use a complex, multi-instrumental approach, including using the objective neurophysiological methods (visual evoked potentials).
Key words: glaucoma, diagnosis, visually evoked potentials, color pattern, myelin basic protein (MPB).
