The article deals with the timely detection of congenital hearing loss in newborns for taking the corrective measures aimed at speech and psycho-emotional development of a child, as the late diagnosis of hearing loss in children in the first year of life leads to the development of deaf-mutism, and as a consequence to their disability. 31801 newborns were examined in order to reveal the hearing pathology and take rehabilitation measures. Audiological screening of the newborns allows to diagnose and treat the hearing pathology at the early stages of the disease, as well as to identify children with abnormal genotype, but with normal hearing, representing the risk group of auditory function pathology.

Key words: audiological screening of newborns, congenital hearing loss, risk group of hearing pathology.
