The article presents results of a comparative evaluation of transradial (TRA) and transfemoral approaches (TFA) during the uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) in 90 patients with uterine leiomyoma. Transradial access was used in 44, transfemoral access ― in 46 patients. The average age of patients in a group with TRA was 41.67± 1.43 years (M±σ) and ranged from 26 to 55 years. The average age of patients in a group with TFA was 42.17± 1.58 years (M±σ) and ranged from 26 to 55 years. The obtained data showed that the TRA is a more effective and safer option of vascular approach in uterine leiomyoma treatment of UFE. Transradial approach can decrease the duration of procedure, radiation dosage, post-embolization syndrome, and reduce the discomfort during the procedure.
Key words: uterine leiomyoma, uterine fibroid embolization, transradial approach.
