In order to identify the frequency of acute respiratory diseases in patients with chronic bronchitis, 1454 people were surveyed, including 706 men and 748 women, average age — 30,43±5,9 years. The research included answering a questionnaire and an examination by a pulmonologist. Chronic bronchitis was found in 132 people, which is 9.1% of the studied population. That is more than 2 times larger than the official statistical data. In the group with chronic bronchitis, frequent respiratory diseases were detected in 12.1% of cases, whereas in the control group — only in 6.3% of cases. The highest ratio “package/years” was among smoking respondents who suffer frequent acute respiratory diseases, while among the smoking people without ARD the indicator was 2 times smaller (р≤0,02). The ratio for the occurrence of acute respiratory disease in a group with bronchitis for the «apparently healthy» people was 2.08.
Key words: young people, chronic bronchitis, acute respiratory diseases.
