The purpose of the study is to study the clinical, epidemiological, laboratory features and effectiveness of treatment of toxocariasis in children.
Material and methods. 33 children undergoing clinical examination diagnosed with toxocariasis, confirmed by detection of antibodies to toxocaras in titers ≥ 1:800 by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
Results and conclusion. It was revealed that 75.8% of children with toxocariasis live in homes with household plots, 72.7% of children have prolonged contact with pets (cats, dogs), 48.5% suffer from geophagy. The predominant clinical manifestations of the visceral form of toxocariasis are bronchopulmonary (39.4%) and abdominal syndromes (24.2%). High titers of antibodies to toxocaras in 78.8% of patients are accompanied by severe peripheral blood eosinophilia. A 10-day course of albendazole in most patients (63.7%) leads to clinical and laboratory improvement with a decrease in the number of eosinophils and toxocara antibody titers. To achieve a favorable invasion level, three courses of treatment are recommended. The article presents a clinical case of toxocariasis in a patient five years old.
Key words: children, toxocariasis, clinic, diagnosis, treatment.
