The paper is devoted to the study of integral stiffening of the arterial system in patients of middle and older age groups, with normal blood pressure and preserved contractile function of the left ventricle. The study included 601 patients aged 45 to 91, 62.7 ± 10.0 (M ± σ) years; of these, 391 women (65.1 %) and 210 men (34.9 %). All patients underwent echocardioscopy. HR, SV, CO, systolic (SAP) and diastolic arterial pressure (DAP) were determined. According to the mathematical model, modulus of volume elasticity (MVE), total peripheral vascular resistance (TPVR) and mean arterial pressure were calculated. It is shown that SAP and pulse pressure (PAP) increase with age. The SV and CO, TPVR and HR indicators were not significantly changed with age. In patients of middle and older age groups with normal blood pressure and preserved contractile function of the left ventricular myocardium, the integral stiffness of the arterial system (MVE) and the PAP significantly increase with age. In terms of cardiac output, peripheral vascular resistance, and heart rate, no significant difference was revealed.
