A successful case of diagnosis and treatment of a serious rare infectious disease is presented ― nocardiosis in an immunocompetent person provoked by a lung trauma. The onset of the disease was in the typical pulmonary form with aerogenic infection. The complexity of diagnosis is due to the picture similar to oncological pathology of the lungs. Pulmonectomy served as a trigger for the dissemination of the process to the brain and skin with abscesses formation. Culture of Nocardia spp. was isolated from the phlegmon and spinal fluid. High sensitivity of the pathogen to sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim, sulfadoxine, amikacin was demonstrated.
Key words: Nocardia, nocardiosis, pneumonia, pulmonectomy, abscess of the brain, phlegmon.
