Comorbidity of pathological conditions is a concern of many researchers. In recent decades, attempts have been made to understand the hierarchy of causal connections between diseases. This article gives various points of view regarding the problem of link between lesion of cardiovascular and bronchopulmonary systems. The results of multicenter studies to identify factors for creation and progression of comorbidity, change of clinical presentation in case of mutual influence are provided. Special attention is paid to relevance of the study of respiratory function in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The principles of the diagnostic approach and clinical characteristics of patients in terms of cardiorespiratory continuum are considered. There is conducted an analysis of predictive markers for this category of patients.
Key words: comorbidity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiovascular diseases.
