Cardio-oncology is a relatively new direction in cardiology and oncology, focused on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and dispensary monitoring of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients. The objective of this study is to compile information on cardio-oncology and describe the most common combinations of diseases. The article presents frequent concomitant cardiological diseases during chemotherapy and radiation therapy in patients with cancer. During the treatment of patients with malignant neoplasms complications of the cardiovascular system are frequent. The role and function of a cardio-oncologist in the correction of cardiac risks in cancer patients is also explained in the study. The treatment and supervision of patients of this group requires in-depth knowledge, both in cardiology and oncology.

Key words: cancer, cardio-oncology, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, toxicity.
