Bases of rendering psychiatric care in forensic psychiatry

The article discusses the regulatory documents on the provision of psychiatric care to people with mental disorders, committed socially dangerous acts, which the court decision was assigned as one of the types of compulsory treatment. Penitentiary psychiatry is one a branch of forensic psychiatry alongside with forensic psychiatric expertise and compulsory treatment of the mentally ill. Therefore, the principles of providing psychiatric care in the institutions of the criminal executive system are considered. The paper presents laws and regulatory documents governing the appointment and conduct of compulsory treatment and the provision of psychiatric care in correctional institutions of the penitentiary system or in the health care system in case of a conditional sentence. Also, the ethical problems are considered, which are faced by both doctors and patients during compulsory treatment, especially its stationary forms.
