The article presents information on cardiorespiratory exercise testing as a universal method of determining the level of physical performance. Maximum oxygen consumption is a measure of aerobic capacity and integral indicator of the oxygen transport system. Implementation of the test for athletes is described. Article presents data on the studying of 33 athletes specializing in various kinds of sport. It is noted that athletes with low fat mass have high numbers of relative rate of maximum oxygen consumption. And indices of absolute maximum oxygen consumption are in direct relation to body weight.
Key words: cardiorespiratory exercise testing, maximum oxygen consumption, aerobic capacity.
