The analysis is presented of the results of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in patients with primarily identified open angle glaucoma (POAG) and in patients previously medically treated. Distribution of patients by the disease stages in comparison groups is shown. Technique of the SLT procedure is described, with criteria of its effectiveness at various time periods of monitoring. The significant dispersion of SLT results is highlighted, depending on the stage of POAG after a year in the group of patients, who had received medical treatment, and in the group of patients with a primarily found POAG. Additional therapeutic interventions are proposed for the patients who had not obtain a positive result after SLT.
Key words: glaucoma, SLT, treatment.
