Based on data of the official statistics of natural mortality in Russia and a prospective multicenter study, which took place in clinics in Austria, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium, a mathematical Markov model, which reflects the rate of senile cataract development, is built. The picture of the prevalence of cataract in Russia in the age group 50-80 years is received.
