The purpose — to present a case of acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis — a malignant variant of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
Material and methods. The case history, the results of clinical and additional methods of examination, magnetic resonance imaging of the brain, cytological and immunological studies of cerebrospinal fluid, as well as the results of a pathomorphological study of a patient observed in the Republican Clinical Hospital named after G.G. Kuvatov, Ufa, in May 2018, were studied.
Results. A clinical case of a 54-year-old woman with hyperthermia in the onset of the disease, followed by the development of general cerebral symptoms, is presented. Magnetic resonance signs of multifocal leukoencephalopathy with subarachnoid and subcortical hemorrhages were revealed. Despite the ongoing intensive care, a fatal outcome occurred a month later from the first symptoms. The pathological study confirmed the clinical diagnosis.
Conclusion. The described case of acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis confirms the aggressive nature of the course of this pathology and will serve as an accumulation of knowledge for the timely diagnosis of this rare pathology.
Key words: acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis.
